HP has upped the ante
in the low-end switch market by adding four competitively-priced
wire speed layer 3 switches to its Procurve line.
Two
of the new switches, the HP Procurve switch 2650
and the HP Procurve switch 6108 enable you to upgrade your networks
to Gigabit performance with enhanced network control at an industry-low
TCO.
The new HP Procurve 2724 and the
HP Procurve 2708 both offer low-cost, Gigabit Ethernet connectivity
to the edge of the network for maximised throughput with ease-of-deployment.
"These products represent HP
Procurve's continued commitment to meeting our customers' needs
by developing cost effective, feature rich network products,' says
John McHugh, Vice President and General Manager, HP Procurve Networking
Business. 'Procurve sold over two million switching ports in the
last quarter alone and we believe these products will represent
an opportunity to continue our rapid growth.'
The HP Procurve switch 2650 is a
stackable, managed 50-port switch, ideal for campus and remote office
connectivity where high port density is critical.
The switch includes 48 10/100-TX
auto-sensing ports and 2 dual-personality ports for 10/1000/10000
or mini-GBIC connectivity providing the highest port density per
IU rack height in the industry.
The dual-personality ports eliminate
the need for transceivers and enable either RJ-45 10/100/1000 or
fibre connectivity.
The switch also provides two Gigabit
uplink ports, robust security and support Layer 3 static routes
which enable VLAN-to-VLAN communication and ensures efficient throughput
between the wiring closet and data centre.
Prices for the switches for the 2708
start at just above £500 and range up to around £1,400 for the 2724.
The HP Procurve 6108
Switch is available at around £977.
